The Minister’s in trouble.

Seems he’s just been flagged in a Royal Commission investigating the failed construction of the multi-billion dollar East-West Tunnel. Seems that maybe he didn’t follow the required protocols in this Public Private Partnership.

And so now the desperate cover up trickles down from High Public Office, through the boardroom ructions of Private Enterprise and finally to the inner workings of the Criminal Class.

Rock Surfers Artistic Director Leland Kean teams up with writer Aidan Fennessy (Griffin Award Winning Brutopia) for this satirical jigsaw-thriller about the business of business and how we get the kind of criminals we deserve.

Yesterday, she was a boat person.
Today, she is our brightest and most controversial success story.

Rock Surfers team up with Melbourne stalwarts and Sydney newcomers The Hayloft Project, to bring you an irregular maritime arrival that will not be stopped.

The Boat People is a black comedy about our desire to decide who comes to this country and the circumstances in which they come. From a leaky boat on the high seas, via Bondi beach, to the most powerful office in the lucky country. Throw your preconceived notions overboard and take refuge on the shores of this world premiere comedy from writer/director Benedict Hardie.

Life vests not included.

A searing modern fable about two foster brothers building a global t-shirt brand.

On their journey through the markets of Nigeria, nightclubs of Europe and sweatshops of China, Matthew and Muhammed discover the consequences of success.

Exploring brotherhood, homophobia and global capitalism, Black T-shirt Collection combines lyrical spoken word and animation, and draws on award winning poet, playwright and performer Inua Ellams’ own experiences of growing up in Nigeria, immigration and of living in the UK today.

“…voice sonorous as a steel drum, Ellams’ poetry is gourmet stuff, smooth enough to melt in the ear, yet packed full of snap, crackle and pop” (Time Out)

Stuck in suburbia with too much to say, Poet Laureate Telia Nevile is doing the only thing left open to a word-obsessed socially inept artiste.

She’s broadcasting a radio show from her bedroom and you’re invited over to pump up the volume. Beautifully crafted tongue-in-cheek poetry combined with a deep, abiding love of the outsider.

Turn up, tune in, rock out.

A mixture of mischief and poetry, More Stoked! is a homage to 70s surfing as well as a coming of age story.

The Pride http://rocksurfers.org/thepride/ http://rocksurfers.org/thepride/#comments Fri, 14 Feb 2014 03:28:21 +0000 michaelbrown http://rocksurfers.org/?p=5221 More ]]>

The Pride takes a long hard look at lions.

Bruce, weighed down by his impressive mane, is struggling with the pressure of renovations and taking care of his pride. Bruce knows time is limited, when James, his stronger, more handsome neighbour, starts peering through the windows admiring his home and his family.

The drama of the jungle never seemed so close to home in this award-winning comedy that explores people’s readiness to forgive, even in the face of gross moral trespasses.

After a wildly successful season at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Side Pony Productions heads to Sydney with this unique David Attenborough meets The Mighty Boosh comedy.

Having enjoyed the highs and highs of successful seasons at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Under the Radar (Brisbane), Perth Theatre Company and The Blue Room Theatre, where The Pride brought home the gold. You may remember The Pride from such award ceremonies as: ArtsHub Peoples Choice Award 2012, Blue Room Theatre Best Production 2010, Blue Room Theatre Peoples Choice 2010 and Nomination for a Total Theatre Award 2012 at Edinburgh Fringe.

“I was shocked, exhilarated, and thoroughly entertained”
Fringe Biscuit

“Surreal, whimsical and joyous. The Pride is all three…The whole is inventive and energetic and possibly the funniest show I’ve seen in ages.”
The West Australian

“The Pride is smart, funny and terrifically performed. It has a strong personality behind it and a primal, sinister spirit haunting its comedic heart.”
Matthew Giles, Everything is amazing and Nobody is happy
